Also known simply as Photinia 'Red Robin' or Christmas Berry, this eye-catching evergreen is expertly trained into a pleached form, offering elevated screening with a vibrant splash of colour. With its vivid red new foliage and year-round structure, the Pleached Red Robin Tree is perfect for adding both privacy and ornamental value to any outdoor space.
At Tree Heritage Nursery, our Pleached Red Robin Trees are carefully shaped and supplied in a range of head sizes and clear stem heights to suit a variety of garden layouts and screening requirements.
Growing Conditions
Photinia Red Robin grows well in well-drained, fertile soil, including clay, loam, or sandy types. It performs best in a sunny or lightly shaded position, where its young red foliage develops the strongest colour. It is tolerant of urban pollution, wind, and light pruning, making it well-suited to modern gardens and city environments.
Where to Position It
Pleached Red Robin is ideal for screening above fences, dividing garden spaces, or adding height without losing ground space. It’s especially effective in contemporary courtyards, terraced plots, or along boundaries where formal structure and evergreen interest are desired. Its bold colour makes it a focal point even in smaller areas.
Foliage, Flowers & Fruit
The defining feature of this tree is its brilliant red new growth, which matures to a rich glossy green, creating a dynamic, multi-tonal canopy. In spring, clusters of small white flowers appear, occasionally followed by red berries, adding seasonal interest. The foliage remains dense and colourful throughout the year, providing excellent screening and visual appeal.
